Hurricane Preparedness
Posted on Aug 4th, 2020
In the event of an anticipated storm, Carolina Lakes POA will make every effort to ready our community for impact.  Lakes will be lowered to accommodate the influx of precipitation, downtime procedures are put in place at the office and guard house to continue to provide services to our residents in the event of a power failure, and emergency crews will be on stand-by in case trees block our roads.  An emergency text alert system was also established in June 2020 to provide registered residents will real-time alerts of ongoing emergencies.

To report an emergency please call the office at 919-499-9122 or after 5pm Monday-Friday plus weekends and holidays dial CAS' after-hours line at 910-295-3791.

If a storm is approaching, please survey your property and secure any furniture, toys, or other loose items.  Check that your culverts are clear of debris and trees should have loose limbs removed.

Are you properly prepared for the 2020 hurricane season? Here are some helpful tips.
  • Put Together an Emergency Kit: Put together a basic emergency kit. Check emergency equipment, such as flashlights, generators and storm shutters as applicable.
  • Write or review your Family Emergency Plan: Before an emergency happens, sit down with your family or close friends and decide how you will get in contact with each other, where you will go, and what you will do in an emergency. Keep a copy of this plan in your emergency supplies kit or another safe place where you can access it in the event of a disaster. Start at the Ready.Gov emergency plan webpage.
  • Review Your Insurance Policies: Review your insurance policies to ensure that you have adequate coverage for your home and personal property.
  • Understand NWS forecast products, especially the meaning of NWS watches and warnings
