How does everyone feel about replacing the front gate system? The new system as I understand it will allow PO's to simply drive in. Any visitor will have a barcode as well for a limited time so they can only enter when authorized. This system will track when visitors come and go and the days of folks coming in to hang at the marina would be over. The Security Committee says this will cost us each $25.00 – $35.00. 10 cent a day for a year would pay for it. This system would come with a warranty and regular maintenance.

Is it worth the cost?

It was not stated that ANY visitor will have a RFID. Was stated that there will be two lines just like before it broke down; residents in one lane and visitors in the other. AS OF RIGHT NOW, home owners will pay 25$ for RFID/RE-registration and renters 50$, which is absurd, especially when renters paid the same for the card like home owners. Visitors meaning friends/family will have to be on their "gate list" just like it it’s supposed to be now. Contractors and any other building suppliers for the new homes will have a temp RFID tag, which apparently will be shut off at their significant time.

I think the security guys should attend this meeting. I believe their slack of involvement when checking visitors in is somewhat an issue as well. I have friends/family come in who are indeed on the list, but security does not check the list. They simply say "ok". So wouldn't it be an ideal indication to have them alternate to come to the meetings to get their point of view.

It is my understanding that any visitor will have an RFID tag. We can clarify tomorrow night. As for security. the security committee is the one proposing this. I would recommend if you have issues with the way security handles visitors at the gate now, you take your concerns to the security Director.

It is very important that the Meeting (6Feb 7:30PM) be attended by as many POs as possible!  Our community is drowning in debt (we borrowed a huge amount of money from the Road Reserve account and not one penny has been repaid) and now some of the Security committee members (not all) wants to spend $100,000  to fix the gates (it has all the bells and whistles) when all we have is $30,000 budgeted!  I am a member of the BOD and I have no idea where the additional $70,000 will come from.  There are people who should know, that we do not have to replace everything at the entrance, but just the gates, as all the readers are compatible with any new gates.  Total cost under $20,000, with in our budget! Please come and let the Board members who want to spend this money that (when dealing with other peoples money) Board Members must be good stewards of our communities coffers!  Art McRoberts R&Rs

Simply to clarify an earlier statement – As prior treasurer I can clearly state that NO money have been borrowed from the Roads Reserve.  No money has ever been borrowed from anywhere.
